Centre of Excellence (CoE) focused on research professor Matthew Oreič with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. Professor Mikael Knip (University of Helsinki, deputy director of the Council of Europe), Professor Riitta Lahesmaa (University of Turku), Professor Olli Simell (University of Turku and Hospital of Southwest Finland) and Professor Harry Lhdesmki (Aalto University) conduct their research groups in the CE . The immune system responds to genetic and biochemical changes based on an adaptive approach that can contribute to autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. The immune system plays an important role in many other diseases. The main objective of the Council of Europe lies in understanding the molecular mechanisms that control the immune system and lasix 100mg the interaction between the immune system and other physiological systems in health and diseases. This information can help in the prevention and treatment of inflammatory and immune disorders. CoE will give special attention to diabetes type 1. Along the way, the study will generate new knowledge about the role of metabolism in the early stages of autoimmune diseases and to identify new molecular mechanisms. The study will be divided into four main areas of research, including clinical trials, biomarkers and metabolite studies, molecular immunology and computational biology systems systems. The total budget for the first 3 years (2012 2014) 5. 7,000,000. Finnish Academy of selected new centers of excellence in research in 2012-2017 6thJune for 2011.
